Modern Slavery Statement
Effective date: 19 August 2025
Next review: 19 August 2026
This statement is made under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines the steps Socialheads has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking do not occur within our operations or supply chains.
1. Our organisation
Socialheads is a UK-based social enterprise developing digital tools that promote safe, human-centred communication between practitioners and young people. We operate primarily in the technology, social care and research sectors. Our activities do not involve high-risk supply chains, physical manufacturing, or outsourced labour. However, we recognise that every organisation has a responsibility to guard against modern slavery and exploitation in all its forms.
2. Our commitment
We are committed to conducting business ethically, transparently and with respect for human rights. We have zero tolerance for slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We expect the same standards from all partners, suppliers and contractors.
3. Our supply chains
Our supply chain primarily consists of digital platforms, cloud-based software providers, and professional services such as design, development and research support. We assess suppliers based on their ethical standards, data protection compliance and alignment with UK employment law. We avoid working with any provider that cannot demonstrate fair working conditions or transparent sourcing.
4. Policies and procedures
Our approach to preventing modern slavery is supported by the following organisational policies and principles:
- Ethos and Code of Conduct – sets out our values of empathy, respect and fairness in all working relationships.
- Safeguarding Policy – ensures the welfare of vulnerable people and promotes a culture of safety and accountability.
- Recruitment Practices – we verify the identity, right to work and background of all staff and contractors before engagement.
- Supplier Standards – we expect suppliers to operate in compliance with the Modern Slavery Act and maintain transparent labour practices.
5. Training and awareness
Although our organisation is small, we ensure that all staff and contractors understand what modern slavery is, how to identify signs of exploitation, and how to report concerns. This is covered during onboarding and reviewed annually as part of safeguarding and ethical practice updates.
6. Reporting concerns
We encourage anyone working for or with Socialheads to report suspected instances of modern slavery or unethical behaviour through our whistleblowing process. Concerns can be raised directly with the Company Founder and Designated Safeguarding Officer, Jeremy Pitt, via [email protected].
All reports are treated seriously, investigated promptly, and handled confidentially. Individuals raising concerns in good faith will not face retaliation.
7. Continuous improvement
We will continue to strengthen our due diligence procedures, supplier checks and internal awareness to ensure that modern slavery risks remain low within our operations.
